Feel Good Friday: Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)

As I was driving home last night, this Sly & the Family Stone song came on the radio. Bopping my head to the beat I thought of my friends, none of them the same but each wonderful in his or her own way. Each has gifts for the world that I get to witness and sometimes experience (like Diane Conroy's cheesecakes.)

"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it doesn't exist."  Friedrich Nietzsche

And they accept me for myself. Sometimes I'm not quite on the same page as the majority--or my friends--for certain issues. They don't roll their eyes at my not-really-a-category fashion sense or my pixie-gone-wild hair, but more important, they are okay with my "inside:" my thoughts, what I write, what I support, my beliefs. And that means a lot. And I love that my friends are just as passionate about their own beliefs, lifestyles and causes as I am--even if those passions are different than mine.

I'll leave you (hopefully) Feelin' Good about yourself and your friends this Friday and gettin' down and funky with this thought and video.  And, yes, that's the real title of the song. Have a great day!

"Accept no one's definition of your life, but define yourself."  Harvey Fierstein
